THE FLU:   Decrease the  Odds That You'll Succumb:
Include These Four Essential Strategies in Your Prevention Plan

Getting the flu is unpleasant, to say the least.  You feel awful - achey, chilled, feverish, fatigued, and more.  It's enough to make you want to curl up in a ball and make the world go away.

So how can you reduce the chances that you'll succumb?  Here are some basic strategies to be sure you've got in place.

1.  Get Enough Sleep

There's absolutely no substitute for getting enough sleep. No pill or potion exists that can make up for it.  Why is this?
Your body, unlike, say, a car or other piece of machinery, is made to repair itself

But it cannot do this while it's also functioning.  In other words, it has to go into a deeply neutral, non-activity state to assess what needs repair and then to get the job done.  Sleep is when bones are built, for example.  It's also when your immune system can use the energy you would expend in daytime activities to devote to surveillance.

During sleep it asks, "What's in here that doesn't belong, and let's attack it, break it down and eliminate it."  Inadequate sleep translates to inadequate immune surveillance, allowing unwanted flu bugs to take hold.

2.     Maximize your vitamin D levels.
What does vitamin D have to do with preventing the flu?  Well, a lot, it turns out.   Various immune cells have a vitamin D receptor, and those cells activate vitamin D as a response to infection.

Then, vitamin D plays another role, which is that of limiting inflammation.  That may not sound like a very important thing, but when you think about how achey you can feel if you actually get the flu,  you'll be glad you remembered to keep your vitamin D levels up so your body can calm down the inflammatory response that's at the root of all that pain.

3.    Keep Your Body Clean

Yes, of course, this includes bathing and handwashing - no doubt you know about that.  What I'm talking about here is the inside of your body.

Many people don't realize that the inside of their body is actually in the same condition as a toxic waste dump!
Why is this so important?  Because the role of these various infectious agents in the larger scheme of things, in other words, their ecological role, is to prepare the body to return to the earth.  And this is what they start doing when they encounter a body that to them seems like a compost heap that's waiting to be worked on.

The more garbage that's in your body, the more these bugs will find to do.  And they'll move in, bring their friends and make lots of babies!

To them, interior 'garbage' can include undigested food, pesticides, chemicals - anything the body needs to eliminate but has been unable to do.

If you have a compost heap where you live, you know that for the compost to become ripe, requires 'bugs'... worms, bacteria, etc.
So don't run your body like a compost heap.  Keep it clean.

4. Get aerobic exercise.

How does this help?  First it gets you breathing deeply and clears your lungs.  But the biggest benefit is from its positive effect on your immune system, where it stimulates production of virus-fighting mechanisms.

"While mercury is a highly toxic element second only to radioactive plutonium, when combined with other ingredients, specifically aluminum and formaldehyde, the synergistic effects increase 10,000-fold. "

FLU VULNERABILITY IS LINKED TO YOUR EMOTIONAL HEALTH -

Make No Mistake - Your Emotional State Has Everything to do With Your Immune Functioning

You likely already know that neglecting your food diet would make you much more vulnerable to 'catching' the flu. Bad eating habits and poor nutrition have lots of negative payoffs, and susceptibility to infection is a big one. That's why we pay attention to when we eat, how much we eat, and the quality of our food.

Far fewer of us pay attention to another kind of diet - our emotional one. We take in toxic messages from others and feed ourselves negative ones on a regular basis without even thinking about it.  What we don't realize is when we ignore, neglect or abuse our emotional diet,  we are instructing our bodies in how to operate.

Attacking yourself (or allowing yourself to be attacked) with emotionally toxic or abusive messages translates to instructions for your immune system:  "Attack Self!"

So keep your immune system strong and in top functioning condition by feeding yourself lots of positive, affirming messages, and invite others to do the same.

WHAT APPROACH DO MANY HEALTH PRACTITIONERS USE?

A number of people, including many health practitioners, support their immune systems carefully  during 'flu seasons.'  They start out with a combination of the roots  of Echinacea Purpurea  and Echinacea Augustifolia to add immune strength and support internal cleansing.  Then if feeling like they're starting to come down with something, they add Andrographus and St. John's Wort.

FLU VACCINE Effectiveness/

FLU VACCINE Safety

A great deal of controversy surrounds the flu vaccination and the governmental policies surrounding its use.

The big questions consumers have are:

      1.  Is it effective?
      2.  What are the side effects  or risks?

1.  Is it effective?

Well, you would certainly think so, given the huge campaign currently underway to get everybody to get a flu shot.  But there's lots of evidence to the contrary.

For one thing, the flu shot only stimulates antibody production for certain strains of flu.  These are decided based on the best guess of the Centers for Disease Control in the US, the World Health Organization, and, operating behind those agencies, the pharmaceutical industry. The 2011 version of the shot includes three  influenza viruses: H1N1, H3N2 and influenza B.

But the strains of the flu that actually make the rounds in any given season are not necessarily - in fact, seldom the same as the ones in the shot.  So if you get a flu shot, in addition to the various ingredients listed below, you're being given a (supposedly) 'mild' case of a flu that is most likely irrelevant to the present strains, and therefore won't protect you.

Then, mounting evidence reveals that certain sensitive individuals may be harmed, in some cases irreparably. These include joint inflammation, arthritis, anaphalactic shock and Guillian-Barre syndrome, which can result in permanent paralysis.

2. What are the side effects or risks?

Some of the risks from the flu vaccine come from the assorted ingredients it contains.  According to Lawrence Polevsky M.D., the current flu vaccine  contains:
  • Egg proteins: including avian contaminant viruses
  • Gelatin: known to cause allergic reactions and anaphylaxis are usually associated with sensitivity to egg or gelatin
  • Polysorbate 80 (Tween80(TM)): can cause severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis
  • Formaldehyde: known carcinogen
  • Triton X100: a strong detergent
  • Sucrose: table sugar
  • Resin: known to cause allergic reactions
  • Gentamycin: an antibiotic
  • Thimerosal:  a mercury containing compound. This is 49% mercury by weight, which is 250 times more than the EPA safe limit.  Mercury is a potent neurotoxin implicated in severe neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's, ADHD, and Autism.
According to Dr. Patricia Doyle, the Tamiflu vaccine contains:
Oseltamivir
Saccharin sodium (E954)
Sodium benzoate (E211)
Sodium dihydrogen citrate (E331 (a))
Sorbitol (E420)
Titanium dioxide (E171)
Tutti Frutti flavour
Maltodextrins (maize)
Propylene glycol
Arabic gum (E414)
Natural identical flavouring substances(mainly consisting of banana, pineapple and peach flavour)
Xantham gum (E415)
In Japan, the Tamiflu label warns that
  • delirium,
  • hallucination,
  • delusions,
  • disturbances in consciousness,
  • abnormal behavior and convulsions
may occur in children who take the drug.
